A Cake for My Boss

No sewing news, but today was my last day at the company I have been at for 5 years... so I got my boss a cake.

When I ordered the cake last week I thought it was funny.  When I picked it up, I still thought it was funny.  But right before I brought it in, I had a twinge of doubt - IS this funny? It isn't like I wanted to stick my middle finger up when I left, I just wanted to make people smile and have an excuse to buy and eat crazy amounts of cream and chocolate. Luckily, my (now former) boss laughed and actually took this photo.

There are many reasons I am moving on to a new position - including a better commute (the new job is two miles from my house!), better pay, better benefits and a change of scenery in general, but I will miss the people at my old job.  And starting a new job is always a challenge, too.  It is exhausting hiding the real you for weeks on end.  Basically, starting a new job is a lot of pretending you are better version of yourself that you were in the interview before the real you sneaks out.  I must pretend that I am NOT the sort of person who brings an "I quit" cake on her last day.  I am sure they will figure it out soon enough.

I didn't schedule any time off in-between jobs for reasons that now escape me. The new gig starts on Monday.   Wish me luck!

  1. Lol. Working closer to home makes a huge difference, I use to work some serious distances from home and I am not a driver - two trains and shiz. Congrats. Sassy Sewing Bees https://facebook.com/sassysewingbees ❀

    1. Thanks! Two trains to work... just the time in the car/trains/bus takes its toll. I will come home for lunch at that distance. Better for my diet/nutrition and wallet, as well.

    1. Thanks! So far, so good! I've been at the job for two weeks now. It is always hard to be the new employee, but I think I'll settle in. :)
